El transplante de corazón es un alternativa terapéutica para aquellos pacientes que tienen problemas graves en el funcionamiento de dicho órgano. Dada la relevancia de este tema, en el presente estudio teórico se analizaron los principales factores psicológicos y psicosociales asociados al transplante. Para esto se tuvieron en cuenta las diferentes etapas por las que atraviesan los pacientes que se someten a este tipo de procedimiento, con sus respectivas repercusiones. Dentro de estas etapas se analizaron las variables psicológicas tanto del paciente como de su familia, las variables psicosociales al transplante, calidad de vida del paciente y finalmente se sacaron conclusiones acerca del tema junto con algunas recomendaciones, para lograr una atención integral para esta población.
