La psiconeurología (PNI) estudia las complejas interacciones entre la conducta y los sistemas, nervioso central, inmune y endocrino. El presente articulo tiene como objetivo brindar una introducción al estudio de la PNI. Para esto se presenta una definición de esta ciencia y un pequeño recorrido a su historia. Luego se efectúa una revisión basada al funcionamiento del sistema inmune y endocrino. Asimismo se hace un abordaje al estrés en la investigación de la PNI y se analiza la relevancia de los factores psicosociales en el cáncer. Finalmente se hace un recuento de las perspectivas de la PNI y su actual desarrollo, encontrando que su estado es incipiente pero su potencial de aplicación a la salud es enorme.
