RESUMEN El propósito de este trabajo es analizar El espinazo del diablo como un filme en el que las convenciones del género del horror son utilizadas para recrear y representar los sucesos de la Guerra civil española desde su dimensión histórico-traumática. La película manifiesta ese trauma estableciendo una constante interrelación entre dos de los lugares comunes del género del cine del horror (el fantasma y el miedo a la muerte) y el contexto o escenario histórico. ABSTRACT The purpose of this essay is to analyze The Devil’s Backbone as a film in which the conventions of the horror film genre are used to represent the experience of the Spanish Civil War in its historical traumatic dimension. The film establishes that historical trauma by displaying and enhancing a constant visual relationship between two conventions of the horror genre: the ghost and the fear of death, with the historical conditions of the war presented in the plot.
