dc.descriptionThe manufacturing industry represents the most important economic sector in Mexico, with an average contribution of 17% of the national GDP and a significant generation of formal employment. During the last years there has been a negative trend of the growth of labor productivity in this sector, which reflects obsolescence in the productive apparatus, so it is necessary to implement innovation processes as a fundamental element to face diminishing returns. The purpose of this research is to establish the relationship between innovation and labor productivity in Mexico's manufacturing industry. As a hypothesis, the existence of a positive correlation between innovation and labor productivity is considered. The existence of a relative but not determinant influence of the innovation in the labor productivity of the Mexican manufacturing industry was found, since the gross formation of fixed capital contributes more to it, and that the decreasing tendency of its levels of labor productivity is a reflection of structural failures and obsolescence in the productive apparatus, so that innovation represents a change in the technological trajectory for Mexican manufacturing activities, providing higher levels of labor productivity and competitiveness.en-US
dc.descriptionLa industria manufacturera representa el sector económico más importante de México, con una aportación promedio del 17% del PIB nacional y una generación significativa del empleo formal. Durante los últimos años se ha registrado una tendencia negativa del crecimiento de la productividad laboral en este sector, lo que refleja obsolescencia en el aparato productivo, por lo que es necesario implementar procesos de innovación como elemento fundamental para enfrentar los rendimientos decrecientes. Esta investigación tiene como propósito establecer la relación existente entre la innovación y la productividad laboral de la industria manufacturera de México. Como hipótesis se plantea la existencia de una correlación positiva entre la innovación y la productividad laboral. Se encontró la existencia de una influencia relativa, mas no determinante, de la innovación sobre la productividad laboral de la industria manufacturera mexicana, ya que la formación bruta de capital fijo aporta más a la misma, y que la tendencia decreciente de sus niveles de productividad laboral es un reflejo de fallas estructurales y de obsolescencia en el aparato productivo, por lo que la innovación representa para las actividades manufactureras mexicanas una alternativa de cambio en la trayectoria tecnológica, aportando mayores niveles de productividad laboral y competitividad.es-ES
