dc.description.abstract | Objective: To demonstrate and compare the predictive capacity of the Ranson
Criteria versus the Atlanta Revised Criteria of Hospital General Liborio Panchana
Sotomayor during the 2018-2021 period in patients 30-75 years of age. Materials
and methods: This study is cross-sectional, analytical, non-experimental and
observational, in which the medical records of each patient diagnosed with acute
pancreatitis who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included, a total of
111 patients were obtained, who are the total population and the sample that was
used. To obtain results in the form of validity indices, valuesobtained according to
each criterion were compared with the actual clinical outcome of each patient.
Results and conclusions: Within the study population of the Liborio Panchana
Sotomayor General Hospital in the period 2018-2021 in patients 30-75 years of age,
the Criteria that demonstrated the best predictive capacity for severity based on the
validity indices were the RANSON criteria with a 65 % sensitivity compared to 57%
based on the Atlanta Revised Criteria. Superiority in specificity was found for the
CRAs, having these 69% while 54% was obtained for those of RANSON. The
positive predictive capacity for both studies was CRA: 0.28 and for RANSON 0.35,
while the negative predictive capacity in CRA was 0.86 compared to RANSON,
which had 0.79. The female sex was found to have a prevalence higher, while the
age range with the highest occurrence of cases was 30-70 years.
