Diagnóstico de la calidad del agua del río Portoviejo, en el tramo comprendido entre los puentes Chile y Velasco Ibarra. Propuesta de manejo ambiental 2012

Abstract

La contaminación del agua del Río Portoviejo, a causa de las conexiones clandestinas de aguas servidas al sistema de alcantarillado pluvial y las descargas directas al Río de los domicilios ubicados en los alrededores del cauce, es un problema Socio-Ambiental que se ha venido agravando con el pasar de los años y el crecimiento poblacional de la ciudad, y que debe ser abordado con la seriedad del caso, debido a la ubicación de una planta potabilizadora de agua que se encuentra 20 km aguas debajo de nuestra ciudad (El Ceibal). Esta investigación va a determinar mediante el análisis del agua el grado de contaminación del Río Portoviejo en el tramo comprendido entre los puentes Chile y Velasco Ibarra. Es por esto que el presente proyecto se basará en realizar un diagnóstico que permita desarrollar trabajos conducentes a reducir en la fuente esta contaminación, y además ejecutar una propuesta de cambios que ayuden a mejorar la calidad del agua del Río Portoviejo y como resultado a esto, evitar que los ecosistemas presentes en este lecho acuático sufran alteraciones.

The water pollution of the Portoviejo River, because of the clandestine connections of sewage to the storm sewer and system direct discharges to the river of the homes located in the vicinity of the River, is a Socio-environmental problem that has been getting worse with the passing of the years and the population growth of the city, and that needs to be addressed with the seriousness of the casedue to the location of a water treatment plant located 20 km downstream to our city (E l Ceibal). This research will determine the degree of contamination of the Portoviejo River in the stretch called the Ceibal by analysis of the waters. This is why this project was based on a diagnosis that allows to develop conducive work to reduce this pollution source, and also run a proposal for changes to help improve the water quality of the Portoviejo River and as a result to this, to avoid that the ecosystems present in this aquatic bed suffer alterations.
