La gobernanza y su relación con los destinos turísticos inteligentes. Caso de estudio cantón Cuenca

Abstract

The objective of this research is to design a proposal for alternative courses of action as a contribution to the governance for the transition of the Cuenca canton towards a Smart Tourist Destination. For this, a diagnosis was made based on the indicators proposed by the Operational Manual for the configuration of Smart Tourist Destinations of the Valencian Institute of Tourism Technologies. With the use of questionnaire techniques to 312 tourism entrepreneurs, semi-structured interviews with representatives of the Tourism Foundation for Cuenca, the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador in zone six and the Chamber of Tourism of Cuenca and the documentary review; As a result, a score of 27.53 out of 100 points was obtained, which means that the governance of the Cuenca canton contributes little to the transition towards a Smart Tourist Destination. This justified that the main improvement actions are proposed: the creation of a Smart Destination Office for the Tourism, the creation of a master plan for the Smart Tourist Destination, the preparation of a training plan for the formation of new management skills related to with Smart Tourist Destinations and have monitoring indicators linked to the master plan
