Background: Gonarthrosis is a degenerative and progressive joint disease that affects the movement and morphology of the knee. Currently, it has greater impact on older adults and people with obesity (1). Method: Descriptive, retrospective and, cross-sectional research. The sample features 341 patients. The data was tabulated and analyzed according to research variables. Results: Out of 341 patients, the prevalence of gonarthrosis diagnosed by AP and lateral knee X-rays in patients aged 40-80 years at Latino Clinic in Cuenca in January 2019 - December 2021 was 79.1%. Females were the most prevalent (58.1%). Patients aged 60-69 years were the most affected, reaching 38.4%. Regarding radiological signs, the one with the highest percentage was the combination of osteophytes, joint space narrowing and sclerosis (35.2%). The right knee was the most affected (43.4%). Conclusions: Gonarthrosis mainly affects 60- to 69-year-old women, which is consistent with results from other studies. Radiography is the first imaging diagnostic method, with a specificity of 86% and a sensitivity of 91% (15).
