The interior design applied to commercial spaces has a series of variables to consider at the time of its intervention. During the process of academic training, the future professional has a series of aspects and foundations focused on this branch of interior design. The starting point of this research was based on three questions: Who do we design for?: Taking this as the brand; where will the design be located?: Meaning the context; and what are the processes to execute it?: the design processes. The foundations of brand, context and design processes have allowed to obtain theoretical bases that will allow the future designer to intervene in these areas in their professional development. Through an analysis of different degree projects of Azuay University, focused on the interior design of commercial spaces, a sample was obtained to be studied using a diachronic comparison ma-trix; each project through different foundations with their respective variables, allowing to obtain and identify a greater or lesser use in each one, even evidencing its absence, in some cases, in the final degree projects of the future professional. The results obtained will reinforce a better training in the School of Interior Design of Azuay University. The purpose of using such a matrix aims to serve as a reference model for other schools, allowing to highlight the most outstanding characteristics of each one, in addition to the innovation and variables evidenced in each field of study; this allows, also, an understanding of the result of a formative process.
