Resumen
Walking has been considered as the first exercising option among the recommendations of physical activities for people in general; however, its impact on the biochemical and clinical anthropometric indicators establishes its certain intensity and duration. For this reason, this research work objective is to determine the relationship among walking, lipid profile, and anthropometric parameters in a group of young adults. A cross-sectional, correlational, analytical, non-experimental study design was carried out. Young adults who attended an outpatient nutrition consultation at the Pujilí Health Center were included. All the participant patients were women who had an excess BMI according to the average women here. Participants with high total cholesterol had a higher mean in walking days, minutes a week and METS compared to people who had normal cholesterol. In the same way, women who walk more frequently and for a longer time have lower values on the lipid profile and anthropometric parameters. When analyzing the relationship between variables, it was determined that there is a positive relationship between total cholesterol and the intensity of walking. It is concluded that walking at low intensity does not provide a benefit in the reduction of lipid profile parameters and anthropometric indicators. It is necessary to evaluate this impact longitudinally considering other influential variables in subsequent studies.
