At the Estación Experimental Tunshi de la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, the application of intravenous ozone for physical conditioning of mestizo equines was evaluated. There were used 15 mestizo horses of similar ages and categories during 70 days of experimentation. A Completely Random Design was used in bifactorial arrangement, where factor A corresponded to the application of ozone (A0: without application of ozone; A1: ozone before training; A2: post-workout ozone), and factor B at assessment times (B0: pre-workout; B1: after training and B2: 30 minutes after training), each treatment worked with 5 repetitions, considering each equine as an experimental unit. The variables evaluated were lactic acid, pH, electrolytes (potassium, sodium, chlorine, calcium ion) and physiological constants (respiratory rate, heart rate, temperature). There were no significant differences in interaction. In factor A the best results for most variables were in A2 (lactic acid: 12 mg/dL; pH: 7,32; respiratory rate: 52 mm). In sodium in AO (127,55 mmol/L) and in chlorine in Al (101,28 mmol/L). For the other variables, no significant differences were recorded. In factor B the best results were in B1 (lactic acid: 11,89 mg/dL; pH: 7,38; sodium: 125,71 mmol/L). In potassium and calcium ion in B0 (4,18 and 1,57 mmol/L respectively). Chlorine did not show significant differences. For physiological constants the best was B2 (50 rpm, 52 lpm and 37,45 oC). Once these variables have been analyzed, there are differences with the values obtained by other authors, it may be due to race, altitude, type and time of exercise. The application of ozone after training was recommended, by other routes of administration, to evaluate its action in different equestrian sports, different times and other variables of zootechnical interest.
