The objective of this research was to determine the reproductive efficiency of Holstein Friesian cows from cattle farms in the province of Imbabura, it was made with information from the database of the Holstein Friesian Ecuador Association. The descriptive research methodology, methods, and experimental techniques were applied, consequently, the reproductive records of the years 2007-2018 were used as experimental units. The results show that the number of matings reported means of 2.18±0.09 times per cow. All productive parameters were above the common values reported for cows of the Holstein Friesian breed, thus indicating that the conditions in which the animals are raised and the genetic of the animal are optimal to obtain the best product performance. Thus, the study of the correlation between the productive and reproductive variables analyzed for the cattle herds of the province of Imbabura did not report statistical differences (P<0.05) between means; therefore, the reproductive variables were independent of the product characteristics and positive or negative affectation of the first type of variable does not have a determining influence on the variation of the second group of variables. It is recommended to carefully control the cows that reported means outside the established standards for Holstein Friesian cows for productive and reproductive characteristics because, if they are not adequately monitored, herds will decrease their efficiency and generate great economic losses.
