dc.descriptionAt present, the Social Work professional intervenes in problems that involve social aspects of relevance, where health becomes an important area in which the welfare of the population is involved, therefore, the objective of the research is to determine the functions performed by Social Work in the area of health in Social Security hospitals, The methodology used in this study was descriptive with a mixed approach, the statistical method was used, and as a technique the interview and survey with the instrument questionnaire of questions directed to the social workers of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security in Portoviejo, while the survey form was applied to 50 randomly selected affiliates. The results showed that 72% of the affiliates receive information on the processes to be carried out within the hospital, while the functions performed by the social workers include research, promotion, recovery, rehabilitation, management and administration of services, allowing them to be the link between the institution and the users who come to this area for different situations. en-US
dc.descriptionEn la actualidad, el profesional en Trabajo Social interviene en problemáticas que involucran aspectos sociales de relevancia, en donde la salud se convierte en un área importante en la que se implican el bienestar de la población en la que se interviene, por lo expuesto, el objetivo de la investigación consiste en determinar las funciones que realiza el Trabajo Social en el área de salud en hospitales de la Seguridad Social, la metodología utilizada en este estudio fue de tipo descriptiva con un  enfoque mixto, se utilizó el método estadístico, y como técnica la entrevista y encuesta con el instrumento cuestionario de preguntas dirigidas a las trabajadoras sociales del Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social en Portoviejo, mientras que el formulario de encuesta, fue aplicado a 50 afiliados seleccionados al azar. Los resultados evidenciaron que el 72 % de los afiliados reciben información de los procesos que deben realizar dentro del hospital, mientras que en las funciones que realizan las trabajadoras sociales se evidencian, la investigación, promoción, recuperación, rehabilitación, gestión y administración de servicios, permitiendo ser el vínculo entre la institución y los usuarios quienes asisten a esta área por diferentes situaciones.    es-ES
