dc.descriptionCurrently older adults are recognized as vulnerable, in Ecuador through its 2008 Constitution, it recognizes older adults as a priority care group, which involves guaranteeing their rights through specialized care both in the public or private sphere Therefore, the objective of this research was to define the role of the social worker in the "my best years" program of the MIES in the city of San Lorenzo, province of Esmeraldas. The population and sample under study was 35 elderly beneficiaries of the "my best years" Program. It was based on a qualitative research, the descriptive-exploratory, bibliographic method was used, the interview technique was applied to the social worker responsible for executing this program in the city. The results of this study highlight the work of the professional in the application of instruments that allow early detection of problems in the elderly.en-US
dc.descriptionEn la actualidad se reconoce a adultos mayores como vulnerables, en Ecuador a través de su Constitución del 2008, reconoce a las personas adultas mayores como grupo de atención prioritaria, lo cual envuelve garantizar sus derechos mediante un cuidado especializado tanto en el ámbito público o privado, por tanto, el objetivo de esta investigación consistió en definir el rol del trabajador social en el Programa “mis mejores años” del MIES en la ciudad de San Lorenzo, provincia de Esmeraldas. La población y muestra objeto de estudio fue 35 adultos mayores beneficiarios del Programa “mis mejores años”. Se fundamentó en una investigación de tipo cualitativa, se utilizó el método descriptivo-exploratorio, bibliográfico, se aplicó la técnica de la entrevista dirigida a el trabajador social responsable de ejecutar este programa en la ciudad. los resultados de este estudio destacan la labor del profesional en la aplicación de instrumentos que permiten una detección temprana de problemas en el adulto mayor.es-ES
