dc.descriptionLa Edad Media concibe las enfermedades y los enfermos de manera ambivalente. Las enfermedades, flagelos recurrentes, provocan en los hombres múltiples síntomas que producen compasión en cuanto evocan al Cristo sufriente pero también rechazo pues son entendidos como manifestaciones de lo impuro y lo pecaminoso que se visibiliza en lo monstruoso. Estas interpretaciones concitan distintas miradas que arrastran, a su vez, diversas actitudes que dan cuenta de estructurales mentales que atraviesan lo político, lo jurídico, lo social y lo económico. Nuestra propuesta busca plantear el tema de manera puntual, presentando una enfermedad, la lepra, que se asocia inmediatamente con el período y que pone en foco los caracteres monstruosos que produce en los hombres a nivel orgánico y las “monstruosidades” del alma.es-ES
dc.descriptionThe Middle Ages conceived disease and the sick in an ambivalent way. Diseases, recurrent calamities, cause in men multiple symptoms, that produce compassion as they evoke the suffering Christ but also rejection because they are understood as manifestations of the impure and the sinful that is visible in the monstrous. These interpretations attract different views that draw, in turn, different attitudes that account for mental structures that permeates the political, legal, social and economic spheres. Our proposal seeks to accurately raise the issue, presenting a disease, leprosy, which is immediately associated with the period and putting into focus the monstrous traits it produces in men at the organic level and the “monstrosities” of the soul.en-US
