| dc.description.abstract | Environmental contamination, noise, stress (among other things) affects one's mental and physical health. Given these factors, alternative medicine has gained strength in order to establish one's natural balance as well as the proper functioning of the human body organs.
An investigation. conducted in people who were treated with traditional medicine, revealed they wcrc able lo improve only to a certain stage. However, as patients could not fully recover from their condition, they are forced to look for new treatments. and alternative medicine is an accessible option.
Most of the Spa facilities in thc Metropolitan District of Quito do not have neither adequate spaces nor the necessary equipment to maintain their services. In addition, proper construction of spas docs not exist in the city.
Due to inadequate construction of spas in the Metro area, a Center of Alternative Medicine SPA has been designed in the outskirts of the llaló Volcano. Thennal and medicinal waters are present in this area and are referred to as "energetic forces",
Mineral radioactive ionization gases and differing Ph levels are two perfect examples of the kinds of energies. These could be wed by oriental techniques performed by experts in alternative medicine.
With this study, the project is designed and categorized in zones:
-Administrative.
-Medica l.
-Trearrncnt.
-Nutritional,
-Laundry.
-Miscellaneous Services.
-General Services.
This project, including the parking lots, area sums 8.184.60 m2.
Furthermore, curvatures were used to suggest dynamic
movement while creating a soothing atmosphere to users.
Thc project's structure was built in different ways. It uses metal in arder to cover big spans in the swimming pool and sorne other narrow spaces, and also uses reinforced concrete to harmonizo curtain wall designs. In the machine and generator rooms a special masonry wall is constructed in order to caler the machinery to highlight the service zone.
The curtain wall on thc elevation manages to tune in with nature thanks to its transparency. This project has been designed to allow the adequate illumination not only during the day but also at night time, in both, interior and exterior spaces.
Nature plays an important role in the design of thc SPA, helping in onc's different diseases. For this reason, the Spa is located in a nature-filled arca at Haló.
