dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to determine the ability to clone the Australian cedar through various
techniques. Three methods were used: air layering, rooting cuttings and in vitro culture. It was achieved up to 88% of rooted layers after 60 days. It was observed that basal cuttings, placed on three substrates: sand, peat and gravel, produced 44%, 53% and 75% of rooted cuttings, respectively. There were no differences in the number of roots per cutting, with an average of 4.25. In the culture medium ¼ MS + 0.05 mg/L BAP + 0.01 mg/L IBA sprouted 95% of the explants and 35% of them exceeded 10 mm high at 30 days. In the medium with addition of 1 mg/L IBA, 9.8 roots/explant were recorded. Aerial layers proved to be suitable for cloning adult plants; an aerated substrate promotes rooting without hormone; AIB alone and in high concentrations could generate viable plantlets.
