Uso de indicadores para valorar con enfoque agroecológico sistemas tradicionales de producción caprina

Abstract

En dos sistemas de producción tradicional caprina ubicados en la región del Chaco árido, de la provincia de Catamarca, se llevó a cabo un estudio con el objetivo de evaluar la sustenibilidad de sus producciones. La metodología empleada fue de construcción, ponderación y análisis de indicadores. Los indicadores permitieron evaluar las dimensiones económica, ambiental y social. Los resultados muestran que en ambos sistemas la calidad de vida y la autogestión son fortalezas; mientras que lo referente a la dimensión económica; y conservación de los recursos naturales no alcanzaron el nivel de sustentabilidad estimado. Esto permite identificar las tendencias negativas de mayor relevancia sobre la que afectan la sustentabilidad de estos tipos de sistemas.

In two traditional goat production systems located in the arid Chaco region of the province of Catamarca, a study was carried out with the objective of evaluating the sustainability of their productions. The methodology used was construction, weighting and analysis of indicators. Indicators that allowed to evaluate the economic, environmental and social dimensions. The results show that in both systems quality of life and self-management are strengths; while referring to the economic dimension; and conservation of natural resources did not reach the estimated level of sustainability. This makes it possible to identify the most relevant negative trends affecting the sustainability of these types of systems.
