dc.description.abstract | The research is set at an investigative scenery of environmental conflicts generated in the process of colonization of the northern of Mato Grosso state. The extraction of wood, gold mining, agriculture and agribusiness, has fueled the development of the region from a model of capitalist production, generating an unequal development and degrading. This conflictive face is directly related to the land use, food production, income distribution and settlement of people in the field or in the city. The meaning of this study is questioning the link established between the environmental policies and teaching practices that guide the social practices of the actors and the conflictuous interests ongoing. This study also observed how these social practices are linked with these actors in order to instrumentalize them in their actions. Based on interviews from several actors involved in the issue, it was held a lecture on environmental conflicts and their interconnection with public policy and education. In social science perspective, this study aimed, therefore, comprehend the social process which caused these changes in order to view new horizons for environmental education practices. The analysis and the theoretical references point of environmental policies and strategies of political action in the mediation of environmental conflicts and, in particular, environmental education as a tool to build values and skills, which constitute the basis for an environmental sustainability project to the investigated context. The results demonstrate that the scale of environmental conflicts and its extent of environmental and social liabilities result from the progressive predominance of the defense of economic interests instead of ecological and social. So, the environmental policies and education join in favor of a collective project of social and environmental development and as it allows the participation of different sectors of society in government decision-making in formulation of low and practices innovation about environmental problems. | |
