dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to bring to analysis and discussion the risk of explosiveness caused by the emission of dust in the area of a wood chip mill in the company studied, as well as the classification of this area in accordance with the relevant standards. For that, the data were collected through an on-site visit, associated with a bibliographic and documentary research. With the analysis of the results, it was verified that the area remains classified; however, the area of the mill was classified as Zone 21 and not as Zone 22. At the end of the article, it was possible to suggest adjustments to electrical equipment, training with operators, signaling the area for risks, as well as reviewing the cleaning procedure for the area of the mill, with special attention to the frequency of this cleaning.
