This study intends to potentiate the sound effect on the cinematographic narrative. Though this sound segment is rarely explored by the naturalistic style, it is, on the other hand, wisely used on the six movies of Star Wars, by George Lucas. Based on these six movies, the performance of the sound designer Ben Burtt will be presented and so will be the way his work was enabled to be introduced in the cultural imaginary. This article also seeks to clarify some resources of the sound discourse, as well as the methods to transcend it. Concepts of authors like Michel Chion, Jacques Aumont, Ismail Xavier, Serguei Eisenstein, Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer will be presented.
