The Caxias do Sul city originates in the politics of colonization adopted by the imperial brazilian government in the end of XIX century. From 1875 then Colônia Caxias started to receive, officially, his first colonists who were, in great part original from the italic peninsula. However, this dissertation is dedicated to the study of the black population, which began to reach the city still in the XIX century. Due to the economical development of Caxias do Sul, there is a consequent increase of this black population that, in June of 1934, establishes the Sport Club Gaúcho. So, in this work I investigate the constructions of an ethnic black identity in the city, analyzing, also, aspects of the black capacity of association and the projects preparation by part of the group open to question
