dc.description.abstractThis work deals with the experience of free men of the poor electorate of Rio Pardo, Rio Grande do Sul, in the period between 1850 and 1880. It aims to analyze through a social history of politics or a new history of politics perspective the experiences among unequal subjects, the social struggle and the antagonism of the different political characters in an environment that is beyond the electoral issue
