Estudio socio-económico-ambiental en la comuna de Palmar y alternativas de desarrollo Eco – Turístico”

Abstract

El presente estudio se llevó a cabo en la provincia de Santa Elena, particularmente en la comunidad Palmar. El objetivo principal de la investigación fue realizar un diagnóstico de los aspectos sociales, ambientales y económicos de dicha localidad, en el marco del Plan de Manejo para el Uso Sustentable del Manglar de Palmar, 2002; este trabajo se establece con la finalidad de fortalecer dicho documento y proponer nuevas alternativas de desarrollo eco-turístico para esta población. Se contrastó la problemática existente en otros estudios, con la realidad actual a través del levantamiento de información en campo. Este trabajo utilizó la metodología de investigación tipo cualitativa y cuantitativa. Científicamente, para esta propuesta, se utilizó el diseño no experimental, basado en los tipos de diseño de investigación de Hurtado & Toro, (2009). Una vez realizado el trabajo en campo, se analizaron los resultados de las encuestas que se efectuaron a los habitantes de la comunidad de usuarios del Manglar de Palmar, y se determinó que en la actualidad presentan problemas socioambientales y económicos fuertes, como la falta de ordenamiento territorial; por ser habitantes migrantes se han asentado en las orillas del manglar, carecen de servicios básicos (agua, alcantarillado) y de espacio destinado a la disposición final de los desechos sólidos, así como el derrame de efluentes químicos de camaroneras aledañas lo que ha incidido en la contaminación del ecosistema de manglar. Su principal fuente de ingresos es la pesca artesanal, y en épocas de veda sus ingresos económicos se reducen por la falta de diversidad laboral. En este sentido la aplicación e implementación de esta propuesta de investigación “Propuesta de Manejo Ecoturístico Sustentable para la Comunidad de Usuarios del Manglar de Palmar, contribuirá a la conservación del recurso natural y al mejoramiento de las condiciones de vida de sus habitantes.

The present study was carried out in the province of Santa Elena, particularly in the Palmar community. The main objective of the research was to carry out a diagnosis of the social, environmental and economic aspects of this locality, within the framework of the Management Plan for the Sustainable Use of Palmar Mangrove, 2002; this work is stablished aiming to strengthened this document and to propose new alternatives for ecotourism development for this population. The existing problems in other studies were contrasted with current reality through the collection of information in the field. This work used the qualitative and quantitative research methodology. Scientifically, for this proposal, we used non-experimental design, based on the types of research design Hurtado & Toro, (2009). Once fieldwork was carried out, the results of the surveys that were carried out on the inhabitants of the Palmar mangrove user community were analyzed and it was determined that they currently present strong socio-environmental and economic problems, such as the lack of management Territorial, because they are migrants, have settled on the shores of the mangrove swamp, lack basic services (water, sewerage system) and space destined to the final disposition of the solid waste, as well as the chemical effluent spill of shrimp near what has affected the contamination of the mangrove ecosystem. Its main source of income is artisanal fishing, and in times of closure its economic income is reduced by the lack of labor diversity. In this sense, the application and implementation of this research proposal "Sustainable Ecotourism Management Plan for the Palmar Mangrove Users Community, will contribute to the conservation of the natural resource and to the improvement of the living conditions of its inhabitants.
