Análisis de hidrocarburos totales en sedimentos de manglar en cuatro zonas en el refugio de vida silvestre Manglares El Morro

Abstract

Los hidrocarburos totales de petróleo (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) son un grupo de compuestos químicos tóxicos para toda forma de vida. En el Refugio de Vida Silvestre Manglares El Morro se realiza mantenimiento a embarcaciones pesqueras industriales y artesanales, que derraman hidrocarburos al Canal del Morro. El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar concentraciones de hidrocarburos totales de petróleo en muestras de sedimento de manglar, las cuales se colectaron por triplicado en 5 puntos del refugio. Los análisis de muestras se realizaron por espectrofotometría de infrarrojo, también se midió parámetros fisicoquímicos. Todas las muestras presentaron concentraciones de TPH por debajo del límite de detección (>150 mg/kg). El punto con mayor concentración de TPH fue el 1 (99,95 ± 28.66 mg/kg), donde precisamente acoderan las embarcaciones, valor que está bajo los límites permisibles de la legislación nacional. Se propusieron medidas básicas para la administración de embarcaciones en el área protegida.

Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) are a group of toxic chemical compounds for all life. In the Manglares El Morro Wildlife Refuge, maintenance is carried out on industrial and artisanal fishing vessels, which spill hydrocarbons to the Canal del Morro. The objective of the investigation was to determine concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons in mangrove sediment samples, which were collected in triplicate in 5 points of the refuge. Sample analyzes were performed by infrared spectrophotometry, physicochemical parameters were also measured. All samples had TPH concentrations below the detection limit (>150 mg/kg). The point with the highest concentration of TPH was 1 (99.95 ± 28.66 mg/kg), where precisely the vessels calling at its berth, a value that is under the permissible limits of national legislation. Basic measures were proposed for the administration of vessels in the protected area.
