The use of song lyrics for the improvement speaking

Abstract

The present research was carried out with the main purpose of finding the reasons and solutions for the low level of speaking in students from Eighth Grade “A” from the Vicente Rocafuerte High School in the 2019-2020 academic period. The main objective of this research is to determine the influence of the use of song lyrics in the development of speaking through a field, statistical and bibliographical research, since the inadequate implementation of speaking activities have not allowed a correct development of students’ speaking skills. In order to come up with a solution for this problem, an exhaustive theoretical research was made in the search of a reliable framework including the perspectives of different authors and sources. These theoretical bases were created taking into account the two variables of the research. This work carried out using different research methods such as: analysis-synthesis, inductive-deductive, logical-historical, and statistical methods. In addition, techniques such as observation, interview and survey were used in order to obtain information in the form of research instruments. After having interpreted the results of the date obtained, it can be concluded that the implementation of activities based on song lyrics, have a great and positive impact on the development of students’ speaking skills. This is the reason for which the author proposes a musical booklet based on song lyrics and didactic activities for secondary students

La presente investigación se llevó a cabo con el propósito de encontrar las razones y las soluciones para el bajo nivel de expresión oral en estudiantes de octavo grado "A" de la escuela secundaria Vicente Rocafuerte en el período académico 2019-2020. El objetivo principal de esta investigación es determinar la influencia del uso de letras de canciones en el desarrollo del habla a través de un campo, la investigación estadística y bibliográfica, ya que la implementación inadecuada de las actividades de habla no ha permitido un desarrollo correcto de las habilidades de habla de los estudiantes. Para encontrar una solución a este problema, se realizó una investigación teórica exhaustiva en busca de un marco confiable que incluyera las perspectivas de diferentes autores y fuentes. Estas bases teóricas fueron creadas teniendo en cuenta las dos variables de la investigación. Este trabajo se llevó a cabo utilizando diferentes métodos de investigación, tales como: análisis-síntesis, inductivo-deductivo, lógico-histórico y métodos estadísticos. Además, se utilizaron técnicas como la observación, la entrevista y la encuesta para obtener información en forma de instrumentos. Después de haber interpretado los resultados de la fecha obtenida, se puede concluir que la implementación de actividades basadas en letras de canciones tiene un gran impacto positivo en el desarrollo de las habilidades de habla de los estudiantes. Esta es la razón por la cual el autor propone un folleto musical basado en letras de canciones y actividades didácticas para estudiantes de secundaria.
