Rehabilitación multidisciplinaria en maxilar superior en un paciente atendido en la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Guayaquil

Abstract

El presente trabajo está basado al manejo multidisciplinario para la rehabilitación bucal de un paciente parcialmente desdentado con un proceso atrófico, es de suma importancia para lograr un diagnóstico correcto y así poder determinar el tratamiento más adecuado, devolviendo la función masticatoria y estética. El caso clínico que se presenta es de un paciente femenino parcialmente desdentado, el cual fue diagnosticado en conjunto con el departamento prótesis para su rehabilitación bucal. Dentro del tratamiento se decidió realizar puente fijo de metal. Los resultados que se obtuvieron fueron satisfactorios para el paciente tanto en función como en estética. La rehabilitación bucal no sólo se lleva a cabo cuando tenemos varios dientes perdidos, sino también cuando la estructura de los dientes presentes se encuentra afectada. La estructura de los dientes puede verse afectada por situaciones congénitas (malformaciones en el esmalte o la dentina de los dientes), incompatibilidad de los huesos maxilares (malas mordidas), bruxismo (apretamiento de los dientes), caries, ácidos gástricos (pacientes con reflujo), y consumo excesivo de dulces acidulados. Cuando la estructura de los dientes se encuentra afectada, se presenta una mayor susceptibilidad a caries y por lo tanto, posibles problemas en los nervios dentales cuando la erosión está muy acentuada. Otros factores que se ven afectados son la estética y la función. La sonrisa generalmente no se ve placentera y la articulación mandibular puede presentar sonidos y dolores musculares. La Prótesis parcial fija es el arte y la ciencia de restaurar los dientes dañados o destruidos mediante restauraciones coladas de metal, metal-cerámica, metal- acrílico y totalmente cerámica, la cual está diseñada para que el paciente no pueda retirarla por sí mismo, devolviendo su anatomía y fisiología

The multidisciplinary management for oral rehabilitation of a partially edentulous patient with an atrophic process is of the utmost importance to achieve a correct diagnosis and thus be able to determine the most appropriate treatment, restoring the chewing and aesthetic function. The clinical case presented is a partially edentulous female patient, who was diagnosed in conjunction with the prosthetic department for oral rehabilitation. Within the treatment it was decided to make a fixed metal bridge. The results obtained were satisfactory for the patient both in function and aesthetics. Oral rehabilitation is not only carried out when we have several missing teeth, but also when the structure of the teeth present is affected. The structure of the teeth can be affected by congenital situations (malformations in the enamel or dentin of the teeth), incompatibility of the maxillary bones (bad bites), bruxism (tightening of the teeth), caries, gastric acids (patients with reflux), and excessive consumption of acidulated sweets. When the structure of the teeth is affected, there is a greater susceptibility to decay and therefore, possible problems in the dental nerves when the erosion is very accentuated. Other factors that are affected are aesthetics and function. The smile usually does not look pleasant and the jaw joint can present sounds and muscular pains.
