tratamientos habituales, estado nutricional, infecciones coexistentes.
dc.description.abstract | Infections of Surgical Wounds in patients attended in the emergency makes us think a lot about the circumstance of the problem and its little intervention by the health personnel in providing timely information to hospitalized patients. The purpose of the research is to design and analyze a guidance guide on how to prevent the occurrence of surgical wound infection that serves as an instrument of health personnel; through the study of risk factors, their duration, their evolution, their treatment, their diet, and general recommendations. This research was conducted at the Abel Gilbert Pontón Hospital in the city of Guayaquil in the Surgery Service, with a sample of 100 male and female patients, with different sociocultural levels, selected according to inclusion criteria recommended by the literature. The said information was obtained from the Clinical Histories. The methodology of the research carried out emphasizes that it is qualitative-quantitative research because it will help to understand the social phenomenon and its characteristics using descriptive statistics. The present retrospective quantitative research reveals that the infection of surgical wounds is a pathology that depends very much on the type of patient: immunological status, underlying diseases, harmful habits, habitual treatments, nutritional status, coexisting infections. Also of the surgical act: surgical technique, duration of surgery, location and type of surgery, use of antibiotic prophylaxis, asepsis and antisepsis of the operating room, personnel and instruments used and others such as postoperative care, length of pre-surgical hospital stay. The research carried out is of a quantitative, cross-sectional, retrospective type and the information collection techniques that were used for the analytical observation of the variables and the interviews with patients and their closest relatives. At the end of this investigation we must be able to identify the different types of patients who are exposed or prone to infection of surgical wounds.
