| dc.description | La élite ilustrada de fines del siglo XVIII y comienzos del XIX comprendió el concepto de patriotismo de dos maneras distintas; se propone el término “patriotismo utilitarista” para hacer referencia al promovido por la Sociedad de Amantes del País y “patriotismo republicano” a la opción difundida por Hipólito Unanue en el periódico Nuevo Día del Perú (1824), el cual sería válido extrapolar al resto de partidarios del régimen republicano después de proclamarse la independencia del Perú. Al explorar los fundamentos éticos y los modelos de sociedad e ideales de gobierno relativos a ambas formas de patriotismo, se evidencia la complejidad que supuso la recepción de dicho concepto por un determinado grupo social y se reconoce su relevancia dentro de la historia del pensamiento político peruano. | |
| dc.description | The enlightened elite of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries understood the concept of patriotism in two different ways; the term “utilitarian patriotism” is proposed to refer to the patriotism promoted by the Sociedad de Amantes del País and “republican patriotism” to the option spread by Hipólito Unanue in the newspaper Nuevo Día del Perú (1824), which could be extrapolated to the rest of supporters of the republican regime after the Peruvian declaration of independence. The exploration of the ethical foundations and models of society and government ideals related to both forms of patriotism, makes evident the complexity of this concept´s reception by a particular social group, and its relevance within the history of Peruvian political thought is recognized. | |
