dc.descriptionThe article focuses on the progress and development of the studies in Andean linguistics with particular reference to Quechua, Aymara, Uro and Puquina. These languages converged at certain period in history as an idiomatic crossroad on the immense altiplano (now shared by Peru and Bolivia), cradle of the Andean civilization. Some of these languages still exist, others have left a silent legacy that enriches the culture of the survivors imprinting an indelible stamp on the plentiful toponymy that only awaits the specialized linguist capable to read the historical ancestral messages coded in place names.en-US
dc.description El trabajo se centra en el desarrollo y evolución de los estudios de lingüística andina referidos al quechua, al aimara, al uro y al puquina, lenguas que en algún momento de la historia se dieron cita, como en un verdadero crucero idiomático, en el vasto altiplano (hoy peruano-boliviano), cuna de la civilización andina, en el que aún subsisten algunas de ellas, pero en el que también perduran, a través de su legado silencioso, aquellas que dejaron de existir, no sin antes enriquecer culturalmente a las sobrevivientes, imprimiendo su sello indeleble en la nutrida toponimia que solo aguarda al lingüista especializado para leer el mensaje histórico ancestral cifrado en ella.es-ES
