This paper presents a dialogical reading approach of Hispanic-American narratives based on Mikhail Bakhtin's dialogic theory and the Circle, and Paulo Freire's theory about reading. The discussion aims to point out Bakhtinian dialogism and reading as a practice of freedom in Freire's perspective as a response to literary literacy in a foreign language, specifically to the reading of Hispanic-American narratives: Tales. The approach discussed aims at the construction of alterity and the historical-cultural relevance of this literature in the context of Brazil and Hispanic America. Considering this dialogic in reading, the formation of counter words with the words of the literary text, the proper character of the signification (relational), the initiation of the other words of the reader who participate in the construction of meanings, it is understood that the work with reading that is consistent with the dialogic inherent in the literary text should consider the discursive genres as the basis for the approach of the text to be read, enabling the encounter of alterity between discourse and reader, between one's own culture and the culture of others, highlighting the autonomy and construction of themselves through the gaze of the other through the narrative.
