Prevalencia de hipomineralizaci?n molar incisivo (HMI) en Am?rica Latina. Revisi?n de literatura

Abstract

[Espa?ol] Esta investigaci?n no experimental sistem?tica, de an?lisis y de s?ntesis cuyo objetivo principal fue determinar la prevalencia de hipomineralizaci?n molar incisiva reportada en pa?ses de Am?rica Latina. Se llev? a cabo una revisi?n de literatura para hacer un diagn?stico de su patolog?a, encontrar los factores etiol?gicos, causas y opciones de tratamiento. Se determin? que no existen diferencias significativas entre edad y g?nero, mayor prevalencia en defectos leves, no hay diferencia estad?stica entre los arcos maxilares y mandibulares, las alternativas de tratamiento dependen del caso cl?nico que se presente y es de vital importancia la amplia investigaci?n cient?fica de nuevos productos odontol?gicos que sirvan de ayuda a los ni?os para mantener una mejor higiene oral en el hogar, creaci?n de nuevos productos y la mejora de los ya existentes

[English] This non-experimental systematic, analytical and synthetic research whose main objective was to determine the reported prevalence of molar incisor hypomineralization in Latin American countries. A review of the literature was carried out to diagnose its pathology, find the etiological factors, causes and treatment options. In this review it was determined that there are no significant differences between age and gender, higher prevalence of mild defects, there is no statistical difference between maxillary and mandibular arches, and that treatment options depend on the clinical case that is presented. Scientific research of new dental products that help children with MIH maintain better oral hygiene at home is of vital importance, creation of new products and the improvement of existing ones.
