dc.description.abstractThe increasing use of polymers as tribological materials in recent years, seeking to replace metals and other contributing materials for the development of new engineering polymers. The objective of this work is to map as operational conditions of terminology, identifying as its tribological characteristics through the experimental results of the trial of slip pure use equipment pin on steel disk (AISI 304) in a tribometer. It was verified the wear rate of the polymers used, analyzing the possibility of supplying the use of lubricants in certain applications.The tested test bodies were hierarchized under some operating conditions, comparing the performance with their physical, chemical and mechanical properties. Polymer samples of the blue cylindrical format based on the polyester and the white sample based on polyurethane were used to carry out the study and the test parameters were determined based on the standard (ASTM G99). To verify the wear rate the samples were weighed before and after the test on a high precision scale, thus acquiring the lost sample mass caused by wear. For this study, four different loading conditions were used, which for comparison purposes with the (BOUTIN F. F E ROCHA, 2015), the loads present in the (PTFE) (Polytetrafluoroethylene) study were used, but with a larger range of tests, which enabled a better analysis of the influence of the speed and pressure parameters. For this study it was necessary to survey the composition of the materials in which the Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) technique was used, which resulted in a sample of polyester base polymer and another of polyurethane and for the presence of other chemical elements present was used Dispersive Energy Spectroscopy (EDS) technique. The polyester-based composite exhibited a better kinetic friction coefficient performance than PTFE and the polyurethane-based composite that exhibited a rubbery behavior and presented tendencies to Schallamach wave formation, which increased its coefficient of kinetic friction.
