dc.description.abstractThe present work consists in the application of the Lean Six Sigma methodology in the casting process, in green sand, of metallic parts in aluminum. This work identifies the root cause of the defect found in metallic parts and proposes solutions to the problem. Lean Six Sigma tools are employed in the project that began with DMAIC. The use of this tool made it possible to identify a cause of the defect found in the parts after casting. In the company studied, the recurrent defect in the process is the lack of filling, which was caused by the low pouring temperature. In this context, the solution was to replace the pans used and prioritize fine parts in the production process and, therefore, produce parts free of defects. Therefore, Lean Six Sigma tools made it possible to eliminate the defective parts and, thus, the new methodology is currently being employed by the company.
