Alzheimer's disease has been widely investigated by researchers in various fields of knowledge, due to its high occurrence and its incidence, especially in the elderly population. This disease does not yet have a cure, but it has treatment, and the early diagnosis is for the effectiveness of the treatment. For about two decades we have sought ways to diagnose Alzheimer's disease with high precision from less invasive methods, so an alternative is the use of biosensors. In this context, the objective of this study was to obtain a biosensor - exploring the monitoring of acetylcholine and / or one of its hydrolysis products - capable of detecting Alzheimer's disease in a noninvasive way, aiming to make it an alternative accessible and easy to handle. For this purpose, a device in which the acetylcholinesterase enzyme was present (adhered to the surface of a support - glass plate (sensor 1) or cuvette (sensor 2) - or the surface of beads of polymeric materials, such as beads of chitosan (sensor 3). The results indicate the feasibility of obtaining a device in which the enzyme acetylcholinesterase is present, as well as the detection of the substances acetylcholine and acetic acid, whose concentrations related to the levels of dementia reported in the literature.
