dc.description.abstractThis paper describes a system for electric energy generation, using a Tesla turbine in a small scale, as an alternative to the development of new techniques to supply the national electric energy demand. The objective is to project and build a prototype of a Tesla turbine using water vapor as working fluid, so then a comparison between the project and the real turbine can be made, testing it's thermal efficiency and potency generated as well. The methodology used as basis was, firstly, to calculate inlet nozzle area of the turbine and the boundary layer to define the distances between the discs in order to define the parameters for building. Following, the torque and project potency were calculated. This way, a Tesla turbine was build with the data referring to the project and compared with experimental tests for validation using a small electric energy generator, which generated 2,37 W of potency. From these tests made in stand, it can be concluded that despite the accumulated losses on the system, satisfactory results can be obtained for project calculing validation, and to electric energy generation using a Tesla turbine.
