dc.description.abstractThis work aims to expand the concept of democracy and explain the democratic mechanisms used as a means of promoting democracy in the school environment, for it was made a literature review focusing on the elements of democratic management and the characteristics essential to the formation of school democratic. The work unfolds in three chapters where the first refers to the expansion of the concept of democracy and leads to reflection on the elements that compose it, the second covers the history of democratic management in the educational context and the latter makes a brief survey of the manager's actions necessary, within a school, so there is an atmosphere of participation of students. We conclude that it is essential to living in a democratic environment for the exercise of citizenship in society.
