The electrical system is, for some years now, having the opportunity to evolve bringing greater comfort for both the suppliers as to consumers, allowing even an approximation thereof. The smart grids bring a new concept when it comes to supply and energy consumption using communication networks to obtain data and information and thus, anticipate problems, avoid waste, optimize the transmission, among others. For this, you need a good communication infrastructure and here come the technologies of wireless networks that can become an important ally interconnecting the power utility and the client avoiding works and cable costs and making the system more flexible. There are several technologies and topologies that can be adopted and this work presents the most used and also where they can be applied.
