The following work results are from the study of the current scenario of black representation in Brazil, with a focus on animation and comic books. In the development of the work, an analysis will be made of the character Jeremias, from Turma da Mônica, by Maurício de Sousa, to the point of understanding historical aspects that permeate black Brazilian representativeness. The methodologies used are classified as: Specific methods of Social Sciences, by MARCONI; LAKATOS, 2003, in Fundamentals of Scientific Methodology. The research uses historical, comparative, monographic, statistical and functionalist methods, analyzing and explaining the origin of lack of representativeness, which characterizes it as problematic and why it’s resolution is important for the social group that most affects, which is the black population. In conclusion, a set of guidelines is available to professionals who have doubts about the formulation of a representative character. The work also comes to make content creators, screenwriters, illustrators and viewers aware of the importance of black representativeness, both for the formation of the identity of each individual, as well as for the black movement as a whole and also what design marketing has to win. It is essential to think that design as well as any other profession should work for racial equality and apply representativeness to contribute to this.
