dc.description.abstractVegetable production in conventional systems degrades the soil and the environment, which makes production unsustainable socioeconomically and environmentally. The no-tillage system of vegetables (SPDH) represents a new methodology for the production of vegetables, which aims to restore ecological balance, seeking to develop a medium rich in organic matter (OM), derived from the rotation between cover crops and crops. commercial interest, with minimal soil disturbance in productive activities. The present study aimed to present the state of the art on the no-tillage system of vegetables, with regard to its benefits and current scientific research. To carry out this study, the Google Scholar search tool, the Capes journal platform and printed books were used. The bases were chosen according to availability of consultation and relevance. Only content prior to the last 10 years was kept to support the Theoretical Framework. Works were searched in Portuguese, English and Spanish using the technical terms conventional planting, green manure and cover crops, physical, chemical and biological attributes of the soil, both related to SPDH. It is concluded that in the last 10 years most of the works developed were focused on the chemical quality of the soil, while for the physical and biological quality few works were found; even though there are many benefits provided by SPDH, the amount of study on this subject is still not very expressive; and, it is noted with the research that the development and adoption of SPDH has been growing in different Brazilian regions.
