A educação ambiental na rua e na escola: a importância da reciclagem

Abstract

The man has begun to concern itself with the environment when he began to notice that his interference was influencing his quality of life. Among the various environmental problems, we can mention the daily garbage we produce in our homes which can be mitigated with the recycling. Thus, the present study is about the importance of recycling for environmental protection, establishing connection with the study made in Goioere – PR and the relevance of this theme for science education. Initially the literature was reviewed to know the consequences of improper disposal of garbage on the environment and how recycling can contribute to solve or minimize the problem. In addition, a field research was carried out in ATA - Solid Waste Collectors and Ecological Agents Association of municipality of Goioere and Goioere City Hall, specifically in the sector responsible for the selective collection aiming to know the service and the way the community interacts with it. In another moment a questionnaire was applied to science teachers asking them how the recycling is approached in high school. After analyzing the collected data, it was concluded that the population still has some doubts regarding selective collection and there is need for continuity studies on waste recycling at the schools. This study also found that the work in the Association (ATA) and its vehicles for selective collection could occur more effectively if there was more cooperation and understanding of the population.
