In the last years the requirements for the manipulation of geografical data has been intensified because of the steady growth in infrastructure in the country. Any activity that somehow relates to the physical space that we inhabit requires, initially, the knowledge of this space. For this, is necessary the visualization of the physical surface area desired. Trought to the technology in geoscience area, and to the current emergence of unmanned aerial vehicles, obtaining geographic information with accuracy became possible, faster and with lower cost. This study proposes execute and compare two different methods of image mapping, these being the use of orbital images and images from unmanned aerial vehicles. For this, it was made the acquisition of an orthoimage from a unmanned aerial vehicle and also an orbital image from the WorldView-2 satellite. For the quantitative analysis criterion, the length and the width of the sample units were collected in the field using a measuring tape. The results obtained from the use of aerial vehicle image unmanned were positive when compared to the actual values in the field. Of the 53 sample units, 42 were within the reliability limit, which is 95%. The conclusion is that both the orbital images as the images originating from the unmanened aerial vehicle can be applied in urban surveys, however, unmanned aerial vehicle show great superiority in small and medium analysis objects due to their spatial resolution is 2,5cm.
