Reciclagem do lixo em Itapetininga: a experiência da COOPERITA em Itapetininga

Abstract

This work had as its theme the implementation of a system efficient environmental management, with opportunities generated by the recycling industry and its economic viability in the city of Itapetininga, State of Sao Paulo. As this area of cooperative model was chosen Cooperative Recycling Itapetininga - COOPERITA. The objective was to collect data and information on the current situation and propose measures found that strengthen the cooperative action of the city, showing its economic viability and also offer technical support and advice to the selective collection and recycling of municipal solid waste services that city. Based on data provided by the cooperative, other sources and official information, the authors emphasize the precariousness of the current model, which collects only 2 % of recyclable waste produced in the city. It was also a sustainability analysis of its economic potential and its environmental utility created in order to generate work.
