dc.description.abstractThis study aimed to understand school failure in the 6th and 7th grade student in the discipline of Sciences a Teaching Institution Municipal Araras - SP, aiming to discuss the influence of family and school on school failure, it enters the problems of our educational system most studied and discussed , with the principle and teacher performance and school to meet the teacher-student relationship, along with the family. The theoretical literature and substantiated by the qualitative method describes the concept, presents different concepts and a brief overview of school failure, family position, the teacher - student relationship and family-school. The field research conducted with forty students chosen randomly and with eight teachers in municipal schools sciences, showed that the teacher-student relationship is good however the family-school relationship is not satisfactory.
