dc.description.abstractThe use of reliability analysis techniques allows for more effective targeting of the investments of a company, since it allows inferring on the operational gains through measures to improve the productive processes. The studies of reliability, availability and maintenance, identify the elements that most contribute to the occurrence of failures in several equipment of a system. The analysis RAM (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability) helps to evaluate of performance of a system through improving the critical equipment, to increase and achieve the best availability. In the RAM methodology is convenient to use software such as BlockSim, which provides a platform for the reliability, maintainability and availability of systems. The use of the approach of reliability block diagram (RBD) and of failure tree analysis (FTA) the software calculates the reliability for algebraic systems. It also provides a simulator of discrete event to analyze reliability, maintainability, availability, throughput, life cycle cost, and other related analyzes. Applying this methodology is possible to available, with technical basis, the current results and ways to achieve future operational goals, reducing risks from the identification of vulnerabilities of parts of a process, as for example, in a steel coil conveyor system. This method of system analysis can estimate the average availability, the mean time between failures, the number of expected failures and the reliability of this sub process at different time periods. Due to the results of system availability and criticality of failure and reliability of the equipment calculated by the model, in a given period of time, future actions can be taken in advance. Specifically in this case study, it is not intended to demonstrate or teach the reader to use software and reliability methodologies, essential for calculating the parameters that will determine the final indexes.
