This research explores the frontiers among Barn Burning by Haruki Murakami and its filmic adaptation, Beoning, by the Korean director Lee Chang-dong. In this process, a comparative analysis between both works enlightened by intermediality studies is established, and a dialog is set with the most different areas of studies, which composes this research theoretical basis. From literary studies and critics: Alisson Flood, Antonio Candido, Axel Honneth, Edward Morgan Forster, Haroldo de Campos, Harold Bloom, Maurice Blanchot, Shu Chen, and Umberto Eco, all of them contribute by exploring specific Literary Theory topics such as: basic concepts, technical definitions, and poetic literary practices. From cinema studies and critics: André Gaudreault, Arlindo Machado, Almir Nabozny, Cássio Stirling Carlos, Cian Maher, Cristian Borges, Fraçois Jost, Irene Hsu, Ismail Xavier, John Powers, Karina Fioravante, Luiz Santiago, and Soo Ji Lee, which grants critic texts about Beoning, when other papers open our horizons about cinema poiesis. From drama studies, evoking Hans-Thies Lehmann considerations of this area since he widely studied about post-dramatic Theatre. From psychology and social sciences: Cleber Monteiro Muniz, Edgar Morin, Juremir Machado Silva and Márcio Seligmann-Silva, their studies clarify about the relation between the human and its memories and traumas. Finally, from the hypertextuality, with Gérard Genette contributions; and intermediality area, dialoguing with André Vieira, Claus Clüver, Lars Elleström, Linda Hutcheon, Márcia Arbex and Thaïs Diniz. This dialog seeks to deal with this analysis. Because the intermediality phenomenon takes place in space in-between, where different midiatic languages are in contact and this produces a final product: the adapted work. In face of that, initially, the analysis is individually. After this, in the same theoretical place both analyses confront each other, where are observed the similarities and discrepancies among them. In addition, this research aims to highlight the consequences of this adaptation relationship, in other words, the gains and losses along this process, comparing the base-work with its product. To conclude, it is discussed about the (in)dependency among those works based on Elleström assumptions about intermediality.
