Among the many modalities available, the Pilates emerges as a way to keep a healthy person, since it gives its practitioner numerous benefits. Some doctors recommend it to help rehabilitate from an injury, some people practice it thinking in good form or just to improve their quality of life, while others perform their exercises because of the great disclosure that the method has in the media, making them modality of fashion. The main objective of this study was to verify the profile and the grounds that influenced the group of women to begin the practice of the Pilates method, besides verifying the reasons that maintain them in the practice of the method. For that, two questionnaires were used, one with socio-demographic questions, and another a motivation questionnaire for the exercise. A total of 100 individuals, all female, with a mean age of 40 years (± 13 years). In relation to the occupation, 76% are professionals. The Practitioners had friends indication and 63% of them only practice Pilates (2x per week) as a physical activity. The time of practice of the Pilates method between individuals was divided between more than one year and more than three years. It can be concluded that the main motivation for the participants to practice and remain in the Pilates method is the search for a better quality of life and well-being, but through the questionnaire motivation for exercise a great interest of them is also perceived by the search for the desired aesthetic and a possible reduction of stress.
