dc.description.abstractThis study proposes to verify the compliment to the requirements from a low cost Grid Tie inverter, usually found in international e-commerce web sites to connect to the power grid. With the growing of the photovoltaic system, combined to the recent raise of the electricity bill to the home consumer. There is a natural trend to the alternative power supplement which may help to lower the monthly expenses with electricity. Tied to this factor, Brazilian people use to always look for the cheapest solution, sometimes forgetting about the safety and the standards, which may cause serious damages to the customer installation as to the utility grid also. With the growing of the international e-commerce web sites it is quite easy to purchase grid tie inverters, which are shown in several range of power, from 100W up to some kilowatts. Even with all the regulation for the connection of photovoltaic systems to the grid, there will be always the possibility of the customer makes the installation by itself, without the homologation of the system. Even if the customer does not receive the credits from the generation, he will be able to reduce the grid consumption of the energy by generate some of the consumed power, reducing the electric bill.It is fair to say that the inverter had a satisfactory performance and reach the required electrical standards for safety, but it performance cannot be compared to other well known brands already consolidated in the market.
