dc.description.abstractEnvironmental Education (EE) is an essential component of education and must be present in an articulated way, at the most different levels and modalities of the educational process. In addition, it must have an articulated approach to environmental issues throughout the national territory. It should encourage the search for curricular and methodological alternatives in the formation of the environmental area. Thus, this work aimed to evaluate the influence of the discipline of EE on the scientific production of Environmental Engineers from Brazilian Federal Universities. Among the specific objectives, the research sought to identify courses in Environmental Engineering and related courses in Brazilian federal universities, in addition to characterizing the discipline of environmental education and scientific production in the area, produced by Environmental Engineers. The survey identified 55 federal courses/universities that offer a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering and the like. Of these, 30% make the subject of EE available on a mandatory basis, 46% do not even make the subject available in their curriculum. Only 10% of publications in the area of EE had Environmental Engineers with authors. UTFPR is the home university for the largest number of published authors and articles. The main theme of publications in the area of environmental education was solid waste. In this way, it was possible to identify that subject EE is not a widely discussed topic, both in the undergraduate course in Environmental Engineering and the like, as well as by professionals in the field. It is possible to identify a greater approach to the theme among professionals linked to education.
