dc.description.abstract | Traffic noise is the main cause of environmental noise and environmental noise is the main cause of noise pollution. And automobiles, as they form the largest composition within urban traffic, are the main cause of pollution. The evaluation of traffic noise at two points considered critical in relation to traffic noise in Campo Mourão, Paraná, was carried out through a quantitative survey. By analyzing the values of the main indicators of environmental noise quality, such as L10, L90 and Leq, it was possible to compare the data obtained with the current standards, verifying their compliance or noncompliance. Measurements took place at three peak times of the day, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, totaling 18 measurements of one hour each. The evaluation of the data obtained at the two points pointed to levels above the 60 dB allowed by the NBR 10.151 (ABNT, 2019) standards and recommended by the CONAMA resolution 001/90, thus not complying with the regulations for the evaluated locations. The estimated traffic volume calculated for the two points showed a noise reduction of more than 10 dB on average, for the two points, if there was no heavy vehicle traffic. Thus, it is necessary to assess environmental noise on a regular basis for the purposes of care and planning for the health and well-being of the population that is indirectly affected by the harmful effects of exposure to sound pressure levels. | |
